Helpful Hands Ministries Inc. History

On Sunday, September 11, 2011 while driving home from church services, Pastor George W. Key received a revelation from God to go beyond the four walls of Church Ministry. Immediately God began to fill his mind with vision and instruction, and within days, Full Gospel Praise Ministries was born.

Its mission was to plant seeds of hope in a world of despair. Realizing this task was greater than himself, Pastor Key acquired the help of his wife Jacqueline Key, the late Walter Key Jr, Malcum Kenner and Decarlous Williams. Full Gospel Praise Ministries became a Non-profit Incorporated Organization on October 10, 2011. The officers were Pastor George W. Key (CEO), Malcum Kenner and Decarlous Williams (Trustees) and Yvonne Kenner (Secretary). As God continued to give Pastor Key vision and instruction, the first Helpful Hands Community Mission was opened at 4457 Columbia Hwy., Ridge Spring S.C. on November 23, 2011.

The name Helping Hands was first proposed by Trustee Malcum Kenner, but due to the fact it was already in use by another organization, Pastor Key came up with the name Helpful Hands Mission. The Mission was a food bank that offered many community services. Special Thanks to Food Organizer Lillie M. , carpenters Bob Henley, Jimmie McDaniel and Mine Creek Baptist Church Men’s Ministry. As God’s vision to Pastor Key continued, the following organizations were formed: Boy Scout Troop 316, Confident Praise Team, and the Boyz II Gentlemen Mentoring Program. The Gods Got the Power Crusades, Talent and Fashion Showcases to benefit individuals with serious health issues, Our Sunday Best Gospel Talent Shows, Light the Night Halloween alternative carnivals, Fruit for Seniors and the Angel Tree. A website and Radio Ministry were also created and work was completed on the Brush Arbor Park.

In early September 2013, the Full Gospel Praise Ministry and Helpful Hands Community Mission moved to 101 Hazard Circle in the town of Ridge Spring, SC. During this time, the name Helpful Hands Mission became so popular that Key, Kenner and Williams decided to change the name of the organization from Full Gospel Praise Ministries Inc. to Helpful Hands Ministries Inc. paperwork was complete April 2, 2014.

After much prayer, in the month of January 2015 Pastor Key retired from The Mine Creek Missionary Baptist Church after 16 years of service to commit fully to the Helpful Hands Vision. Helpful Hands Ministries Inc. was now not only a Community Mission, within its ministries a Church had now evolved. The first Church Service was held February 1, 2015 at the Ridge Hill Star Community Center in Ridge Spring, SC where services continued until August 2015. At that time, the Church’s current location at 109 Pecan Grove Road in Ridge Spring, S.C. was purchased and named The Helpful Hands Life Center. By April 2016 numerous renovations were completed, many souls saved and many members added. Look where God has brought us!
